Hey y’all! I’m so glad that you stopped by.
My name is Tammy and I’m the content-creator, writer and overall do’er here at Suburban Dixie. I’ve been married to the love of my life for over 20 years and we have one young adult daughter (who still lives at home) and one teenage daughter that is a High School Sophomore. Additionally, we have 2 rescue dogs, Castiel (lab mix) and Scout ( Australian Shepherd/Lab Mix). We live in a suburb of New Orleans, LA.
Without a doubt, approaching the next season of life can be a complex time of transition. Not only are the kids moving on to their next phase of their life, but this time is often accompanied by a milestone birthdays, perimenopause, reconnecting with your spouse, and redefining yourself. Just like any other season of life, there is goodness and challenges.
Perhaps one of the greatest adjustments during this transition is giving ourselves permission to focus on other areas of our life that have been neglected . We put off doing so many things for ourselves for the sake of our kids. In that spirit, here are some of the topics I cover at Suburban Dixie include:
- New Orleans Recipes
- Entrepreneurship & Side Hustles
- Health & Fitness for the Over 40 tribe
- Parenting Adult Children AND Your Parents (aka Oreo Parenting)
- Relationships & Marriage
- Travel with Older Kids and Without Them
- Refocusing & Learning
- Empty Nest Transition
- Local Places and Things to Do in the Greater New Orleans area.
If you’ve looked around on Suburban Dixie , y’all will quickly see that I love to write about what interests me and what I think my readers will love and appreciate. It is not always the same thing.. one day it could be about parenting your parents, the next is could be about a new local place I found.
On occassion, I do use an affiliate link and/or partner with a company on a specific item or service. I only work with companies that align with my personal brand, taste, and style. Anything I write is my own opinion and I will always disclose if an item is giving to me by a brand/company or I am being compensated for a post.
I love to speak about all aspects of transitioning to midlife, relationships, or marriage. I am available for TV, radio, or print interviews as well as speaking engagements with groups. If you are interested, click here.
