2016 is almost over..

2016 is almost over..

Can you believe that 2016 is almost over?  Seriously, where did it go? Besides the crazy Presidential election and all the celebrity deaths this year, I’m still wondering how did it go by so fast?

2016 was a wonderful year full of goodness, love, transition and challenges. It has been a very busy year for our family: 2 graduations, a milestone birthday, many goals were accomplished and lots of lessons learned.

My 2016 Words

  1. Love
  2. Change
  3. Transformation

All year long – LOVE was a big theme for us. There were so many opportunities for us to show our love for others as well for ourselves.

CHANGE was also a major theme for us in 2016. It was a bit surreal to have our last IEP meeting and close that chapter of our parenting lives. The month of May was a very busy and emotional month combining Kay’s 18th birthday, her Senior party, my graduation and finally her graduation.  I had a hard time at her party but was able to keep it together at the graduation.

In 2016, TRANSFORMATION was a regularly occurring thing as well. Dan and I had to transform our parenting style with Kay become an adult and college student. We couldn’t parent the same way with her as we continue to do with Becca. I’ll be honest… that was a lot easier than transforming from Stay At Home/IEP Mom of 2 daughters to full working-outside-of-the-hom mom of 1 college freshman and 1 HS freshman.

As 2016 had its challenges,  and I’m sure 2017 will be no different. There will be parenting and marital challenges as well as personal and financial challenges. Change is good and allows  you to learn and grow.

2017 words – Travel. Passion. Brave.

  1. Travel – We intend to travel a lot this year. Our first time is during Spring Break and we are heading to Washington, DC. Even though we lived there for 2 years, the girls don’t remember much about it.  We hope to also add another trip to Disney again.
  2. Passion – It’s time to find time for my passions again. I intend to make more time for writing, photography, being outdoors, and spending more time together.
  3. Brave – It’s time to be brave and courageous in my writing and photography. It’s time to put myself out there in order to accomplish some other personal goals that I have. I have all the tools necessary to accomplish this… I just need to do it.

So here’s to another great year!
